Grace is a nurse in a small clinic in Malawi. A mother holds her baby. Grace gives the baby a small injection. The baby cries, then stops. Grace has done this many times since 2019.
The injection is a vaccine against malaria. Malaria is a sickness. A mosquito carries it. In Africa, it makes many children sick. Some children die.
In May 2026, scientists counted. They looked at three countries: Ghana, Kenya and Malawi. They looked at four years. Did the vaccine help?
Yes. One child in eight was saved. Now twenty-five countries in Africa give this vaccine. Ten million children get it every year.
Grace does not count. She holds the next baby. One in eight is a big number. For Grace, it is one baby at a time.
