Cars filled every street in the city for a long time. Buses were slow. Walking was not safe. The city tried something new. It built wide bike lanes.
At first, drivers were angry. They said, "There will be more traffic." They said, "Nobody rides a bike in the rain."
But something surprising happened. More people rode bikes to work and school. The new lanes felt safe. Children and older people used them too.
After one year, the city checked the numbers. Car traffic was lower. The air was cleaner. Shops on the bike streets had more customers.
Other cities are watching now. Giving space to people does not empty a city. It can fill it with life.
