Why Grandma Was Right About Sleep

"Go to bed early," she always said. Science now agrees with her.

Level A1 · Beginner

When Elena was young, her grandmother said the same thing every night: "Go to bed early. Your body will thank you." Elena thought it was just an old habit.

Years later, Elena was a busy student. She went to bed late almost every night. She felt tired. She forgot things easily. She got sick more than her friends.

One week, she tried her grandmother's advice. She went to bed at the same time every night. She slept eight hours.

At the end of the week, she felt like a new person. She could focus in class. She felt calm. She did not need coffee every two hours.

Doctors say the same thing Elena's grandmother knew. Good sleep helps the brain and the heart. Sometimes, simple advice is the best advice.
